Earlier I talked about changing the Grub theme. Ubuntu Tweak lets you change the GDM theme as well for Ubuntu 10.10 or 10.04 without any terminal hacking. Install Ubuntu Tweak by doing this

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak

Launch Ubuntu Tweak, browse to Login Settings and click the Unlock button which will prompt you for your password, after which you can click on the current login screen background to change it.

You can choose from several of available options of choose your own image file.

This is bullshit. Don’t say it can change the theme, all it does is change the backround.

With GDM2 this is all you can do, change background and change login icon, as GDM2 doesn’t support themes anymore, looks like somebody just woke up 😉 Also GDM2 Setup is not yet supported for Maverick.
