Just like Ubuntu 9.10, X server kill/restart option via Ctrl-Alt-Backspace is disabled by default in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. The procedure to enable it is identical. See screenshots below for Ubuntu 10.04 for details. The procedure for Fedora 13 is exactly identical.

Enabling Ctrl-Alt-Backspace for Ubuntu 10.04 or Fedora 13

  • Select “System”->”Preferences”->”Keyboard”
  • Select the “Layouts” tab and click on the “Layout Options” button.
  • Select “Key sequence to kill the X server” and enable “Control + Alt + Backspace”.
