How to Convert a WordPress Blog to Blogspot (Blogger)

If you have an existing WordPress.org or a dedicated site running WordPress and want to switch to Blogger, you can just follow these simple steps

1. Login to your WordPress account and navigate to the Dashboard for the blog that you’d like to transfer to Blogger. Click on the Tools tab > Export as shown below (if you can’t see Export option, click on small triangle to expand the tab.

Now, click the download Export file button to export and download a XML file. Save this file to your local machine.

2. Go to WordPress2Blogger, browse to the saved document from step 1 and click Convert and save the output file (another XML document) downloaded to your local machine. This is the file in desired blogger format.

3. Then from your Blogger dashboard (I am assuming you already have a Blogspot account): Settings > Basic tab and click “Import” to import the converted file from step 2. That is all.

You can use this approach to convert between various other blogging platforms, by using the links given below:

  • For the inverse process i.e. convert Blogger or Blogspot to WordPress use http://blogger2wordpress.appspot.com/
  • For LiveJournal to Blogger conversion, use https://livejournal2blogger.appspot.com/
