XBMC Dharma 10.0 (currently in Beta 2 stage) offers some great new improvements over previous versions of XBMC, while still retaining all the amazing features that XBMC offers as a HTPC software. The most significant improvement is the handling of Add-ons, now you can install and upgrade add-ons (scripts as well as themes) automatically from within XBMC, more and more scripts and themes are getting added to the core repository. While I am eagerly awaiting for the final release, if you are like me and want to experience it right away, then you can install it on your Ubuntu system by adding the daily build repository by doing this (remember this is Beta, so expect some bugs and glitches)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-standalone
