Radio – Music Review
|Director: Isshaan Trivedi
Music Director: Himesh Reshammiya
Lyrics: Subrat Sinha
Radio is an upcoming Bollywood movie with Himesh Reshammiya as lead actor and playback singer. I sincerely hope its not a repeat of ‘Aap ka Suroor’ or ‘Aap ka Suroor – Part 2’! We will come to know once it releases in december, but the music is out and it is buzzing music stations.
The opening track mann ka radio surprises you, Himesh on the vocals (literally) and not ‘nasals’. The song is upbeat and simple. It has an easy flowing rhythm, kind of what you would like to listen while driving back from work. It is followed by a peppy number zindigi jaise ek radio. I am not particularly impressed at this point by the lyrics, but then sometimes they tie up very well with the script of the movie. I will reserve my comments on that till the movie releases. The tempo in the next track janeman settles into a nice sweet rhythm, typical romantic hindi number. You expect no less when Shreya Ghoshal is at job. Same goes for the other tracks sung by the duo, koi na koi chahe and shaam ho chali hai. Good playback singing has definitely lifted the standard of the music album.
The track that impressed me most is piya jaise ladoo motichur wale. I liked the voice of Rekha Bharadwaj, kind of contrasting to Himesh. Also to mention the track damadji. The voice of Kailash Kher suits the mood of the song perfectly with inserts from Himesh. But as you get deeper into the album, tere mere dosti ka aasman presents that familiar Himesh nasals, at least hints of it.
All in all I fell the music is going to be liked in general, partly because it has a track for everyones liking. That’s a cool trick, Himesh!
