Ubuntu 10.04 comes with the latest version of MythTV, i.e. 0.23. MythTV versions are usually not backward compatible, so if your backend is running 0.23 and one of your frontends is stuck with Ubuntu 9.04 because the new Ubuntu 10.04 won’t support the old hardware. The ideal workaround is to upgrade the MythTV installation by enabling or activating the auto-builds.

Download the upgrade file called (mythbunturepos.deb) from Mythbuntu.org and double click it to install. Once the installation is finished, launch synaptic and refresh the file list by clicking Reload. Now the latest version of MythTV should show up in your synaptic search list. Install / Upgrade it in the usual way.
