Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder Review
This is the review of Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder Deluxe. Initially I was skeptical about the utility of a software like this as one can create photo slide shows using various softwares, like Picasa or Windows Movie Make both of which are available for Free for Windows. But after trying this software out I was completely blown away by the range of options available with this software. Wondershare DVD Slide Builder takes slideshow creation to a whole new level. That too, without taxing your brain. There is no coding involved and the interface is as simple as it can be. So lets look at some of the key features.
As soon as you launch the software, you are greeted by this screen which gives you the option for two launch modes: Standard and Advanced.
The workflow for either of these modes is identical. The difference lies in the number of options available to the user while creating the slide show, we would get to this in a minute. Lets start with Standard Mode, here is how the interface looks like
In standard mode in the first step you are allowed to choose all the images that you want to add to the slide show, the option to add videos alongside the images is available only in the advanced mode. The images can be dragged along to change their order and you can do some basic editing (crop, apply image filters, remove red-eye etc.) from within the software, which should be useful. Once the images that you want to create the slideshow with have been added
you hit the Personalize tab to start editing your slideshow. The standard mode gives you three sets of editing options
1. Styles: These allow you to change the animation style for images in your slideshow. You can apply a particular style to each image individually or you can apply it to a set of images (up to 8) together.
2. Clipart: These are small animations which can be overlayed on top of an image.
3. Effects: These are again animations but more subtle and better looking.
See thumbnails below for a screenshot of each of the features.
The Advanced Mode, as mentioned earlier allows you to use Videos in conjunction with images and also gives two additional sets of special effect options, i.e. to add Motions and Transitions for videos.
You can set the duration of display for each image and also the duration of individual effects by clicking each item in the storyboard mode. You can click on the Timeline tab to visually see and edit the timeline evolution and append / edit music to it (some sample audio clips are available, and you also have the option to record your own commentary).
Once you have finalized the look and feel of your movie, the next step lets you do the DVD authoring.
Once again, there are plenty of options to choose from, for creating the DVD menus and it you can either export the DVD to a folder or create an image file, you can also preview your creation before actually creating the DVD. If you don’t want to author a DVD, you can still export it to a video file to practically to most popular formats out there.
Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder seems like a well made software which can get the job done for you. With the tons of options available, the quality of the final output can only be limited by your creative skills. The only flip side to this software may be its price which seems a bit steep at $59.95 and may ward off some potential buyers. But if you are looking for a good DVD Slideshow creator, then you don’t need to look any further.
